CANCELED: Hook Suspension Demonstration, presented by Elwood (Workshop III)

The first time someone sees flesh hooks in use, the reaction is usually something along the lines of "holy *#@&, what the hell is going on there!!"� Flesh hook suspension is becoming more visible in the mainstream all the time with shows like Ripley's Believe It Or Not, and films like The Cell showing images of people suspending from hooks all the time.� The history behind flesh hooks is firmly rooted in ritual from around the world.

Elwood will be presenting a demonstration of a hook suspension, including a brief discussion on the history of this ritual behind the practice of putting hooks into flesh.� We would ask any one that wishes to witness this to please respect the fact that this is founded in a history of ritual, and therefore no talking is requested during the suspension.� There will be an opportunity for question before and after the actual suspension.

About Elwood

Elwood is a professionally trained and certified body piercer and body brander, scarification and suspension artist and photographer. He was trained in San Francisco, California by Fakir Musafar, (the father of the Modern Primitive and the man credited with bringing body piercing to the western world).

As an educator and body modification practitioner, Elwood is known for his humorous personality while educating audiences on a variety of classes and workshops. He is acknowledged for his vast knowledge of the history of body modification and practical safety.

Elwood has presented numerous workshops surrounding body modification and alternative lifestyle topics around the globe.� His commitment to advanced safety within the body mod industry has also led him to becoming an educator to the Simon Fraser Health Authority, Coastal Health, The Canadian Institute of Professional Health Inspectors, and the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
